Georgia Tech’s Full STEAM Ahead is a program designed to enhance and encourage curiosity and enthusiasm for science, mathematics, engineering, art, and technology. We are excited to bring a fourth summer of week-long camp sessions throughout the summer. During each week, students will experience different student centered activities. Technology and art are a part of this experience, along with problem solving, challenges, cooperative activities and contests. Both girls and boys will find fun and creative activities in our week-long camp sessions.
When is Full STEAM Ahead?
All campers will have core experiences with technology, art, and engineering. Camp begins June 6 and ends August 2, 2016. Camp hours are 8 am to 3 pm daily. On Friday, please plan to attend our Showcase at 2 pm.
How much does it cost to attend?
Each Full STEAM Ahead week is $135 per student. The Game Academy is $150 per student.
When is payment due?
Payment for Full STEAM Ahead is due when you register. Your registration is not complete without payment, and unfortunately, cannot be processed until we receive it.
Full STEAM Ahead is offered at local public and private schools around Chatham County and surrounding areas. Please check out our registration page for current sites.
Could a Full STEAM Ahead session be canceled?
While unlikely, CEISMC reserves the right to cancel a program at any time for any reason. If this should happen, a full refund would be issued. CEISMC also reserves the right to remove students during the program week for a number of reasons we will disclose in your acceptance email. Refund for student misconduct or rule violations will not be offered.
Does my student need to bring anything?
Your student will be provided with all materials and supplies needed for success with Full STEAM Ahead activities. They do need a brown bag (non refrigerated lunch). We do not refrigerate lunches. Also, students will not have access to a microwave. Please no soda, candy, or gum. No, personal electronics allowed including e-readers, DS, cell phones, cameras, tablets, and iPads. CEISMC can not be responsible for these devices.
How are students grouped?
Students are grouped by age and grade. Parents may also request a grouping based on a friend or sibling or other special circumstance. Multi-age groupings will be utilized.
Who are the program instructors?
Programs are taught by a mixture of Georgia Tech staff, Georgia Tech students, and area science and math teachers.
How do I get updates about Full STEAM Ahead?
We post updates and important information on the website. Some information will also be sent via email. EMAIL IS OUR PRIMARY MEANS OF COMMUNICATION. It is of the utmost importance that the parent email address you provide us on your registration is spelled correctly and checked often.
Will I get a refund if I need to cancel?
In order to keep our program as economical as possible, we are not able to offer refunds for any reason.
Can a student with disabilities attend camp?
Students with disabilities are welcome in our camps. Please let us know how to best support your student to be successful in the camps either via email or online camp registration form or directly with camp staff. Your privacy is important to us and camper information will only be shared with staff working with your camper.
Do I need a teacher recommendation?
Teacher recommendation is not required to attend camp programs.
Which camp should a child who is finishing the 5th grade attend?
Parents of students who are finishing the 5th grade (rising into 6th grade) may chose either K-5 program or any of our 6-8 grade programs.
My child will be in kindergarten. Can he or she go to camp?
Full STEAM Ahead is an active, all day program. We do not rest or nap. Children ages 5 and above who are able to enjoy a full day of hands on learning activities are welcome regardless of kindergarten status. We cannot accept children who are not 5 years of age at the time of camp.
Do you have scholarships?
We regret we cannot offer scholarships, financial aid, or discounts at this time.
If I go to one week, can I go to more sessions?
Yes, a camper can attend more than one week long session Core activities like art and technology are in all sessions.
What about lunch? Food allergies?
Students should plan to bring a nonperishable (brown bag lunch that does not need refrigeration) healthy lunch that will give them the energy they need to participate in Full STEAM Ahead! No soda, candy, or gum. Please use our registration form to let us know about food allergies and any other special needs your camper may have.
What if my camper has other special circumstances or needs?
Please let us know how we can help using the registration form.
What about photography?
Unless you tell us differently, Full STEAM Ahead may use photographs of your camper in our materials.
What about weather? Emergencies?
While unlikely, weather and other natural and emergency situations may occur beyond the program's control. If a partial program cancellation is required, no refund will be offered. An example would be rainy day early dismissal or late start time to accommodate safe traveling of staff, campers, and their families. Any short term unforeseen weather or other emergencies will not be able to be refunded partially in any form.
Could an entire program week be canceled?
If a program is not able to be offered at all, a full refund will be offered.
Partner with Georgia Tech to hire a veteran. As a partner, the Georgia Tech program will train military members in areas that directly translate to their job duties.
