For manufacturing professionals aspiring to be leaders, the Manufacturing Leadership Certificate offered by Georgia Tech Professional Education (GTPE) is an ideal opportunity to build leadership capabilities. Chantrey Reece, master scheduler at BorgWarner in Asheville, North Carolina, recently became the first recipient of the certificate.

Reece took the program to address the gap between his technical and management skills. While he had the technical background required for his role, he felt he needed to work on his leadership abilities to be able to support and grow his team. Within nine months, he had completed all seven of the required courses, and is now implementing the knowledge he gained during the program and already seeing results.

In an interview with the Georgia Manufacturing Extension Partnership (GaMEP), the Georgia Tech unit that provides the program content, Reece discusses his experience of the program and the impact it has had on his role at BorgWarner.
