GTPE Welcomes New Associate Dean of Learning Systems
ATLANTA - May 9, 2016 Georgia Tech Professional Education (GTPE) has appointed Dr. Yakut Gazi as associate dean of learning systems to lead the division’s initiatives in creating and delivering world-class content across a variety of mediums, including online, blended and in-person platforms, to learners across the globe. Gazi comes with a wealth of international experience in instructional design and technology, having worked at higher education institutions in the United States, Qatar, Turkey and Spain since 1993. She joins GTPE from Texas A&M University, where she was the assistant vice chancellor for engineering remote education.
In her role at Texas A&M University, she provided collaborative institutional leadership, working with faculty and academic leaders to develop innovative, strategic solutions for online, blended, distance and open programs and courses. Among Gazi’s successes is her leadership of the evaluation, adoption and implementation of a predictive analytics project tying together learner data sources from several internal teams to improve the learner experience. She has also been instrumental in shaping a continuing education system featuring a learner record with federated identity management across a common education portal for the entire A&M System and its multiple campuses.
As a key addition to the GTPE executive leadership team, Gazi is tasked with streamlining collaboration between the division and the Institute, and delivering the expertise of Georgia Tech faculty to learners worldwide in meaningful, inventive and interactive ways. “I look forward to leading an accomplished team to empower Georgia Tech’s faculty to create and implement pedagogically and andragogically sound solutions to today’s learning challenges,” she said.
Dr. Nelson Baker, dean of GTPE, pointed out Gazi’s suitability for the role in relation to GTPE’s strategic direction. “One of our primary goals is to become a leader in the delivery of 21st century professional education. Dr. Gazi is an invaluable addition to our team, who will enable us to take giant leaps toward achieving this goal,” he said. “Her international background, system-level experience, insights into analytics and her passion for the learner make her perfect for this role. I’m delighted to welcome her to GTPE.”
