Patrice Miles Retires After 14 Years of Service
Patrice Miles, assistant dean of Business Operations, retired after 14 years of service to Georgia Tech Professional Education (GTPE).
Patrice first joined GTPE in 2007 after a successful 20-year career at Delta Air Lines and quickly became a champion of lifetime learning and professional education. Under her 14-year tenure she has been a foundational force, growing and supporting the many innovative and high-quality programs and services that are the cornerstones of GTPE.
With expertise covering a broad swath of operational functions across the organization, she has consistently ensured we had solid business models, detailed financial projections, and clear operational standards. Additionally, her business acumen has been essential in navigating the legal, contractual, and market alignment demands of the rapidly changing workforce that GTPE serves.
Beyond day-to-day operational needs, Patrice is a key collaborator, partner, and advisor to many within the higher education community and at the Institute. Her willingness to share professional advice on complex operational issues -- easily and readily -- is not only indicative of her vast experience and network, but also her humility and open-mindedness. These accolades from within and beyond Georgia Tech were instrumental in her being honored with the University Professional and Continuing Education Association Walton S. Bitner Service Citation Award.
"s a tireless advocate for her team and colleagues, Patrice has often been described as an endearing, encouraging, and enthusiastic voice for those who work with her each day," said Nelson Baker, dean of Professional Education. "Patrice has been both a trusted colleague and mentor for me. Her calm demeanor and ability to listen and find solutions to the most complex of problems is something that I will always remember."
