Terms and Conditions of Enrollment in Professional Education Courses

Terms and Conditions of Enrollment in Professional Education Courses

Effective July 1, 2022

These Terms and Conditions of Enrollment describe the policies, procedures, and other requirements that must be adhered to by any Learner who enrolls in one or more of the courses offered by Georgia Institute of Technology through Georgia Tech Professional Education (GTPE). All learners must read and agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions prior to each enrollment. The action of creating a user profile, adding a course or courses to your cart, and completing the checkout process to purchase a seat in a course is a binding agreement to abide by these Terms and Conditions.

Payments and Withdrawals

At the time of enrollment, you are purchasing a seat in one or more of our courses. Payment for this seat, or a contract to pay in the form of a Purchase Order, is due upon enrollment. Purchase Orders are not accepted for every course we offer. Available payment options will be presented upon check out.

Should you decide to withdraw from one or more courses after enrollment, refunds will be subject to the following terms:

  • In-person or Virtual Instructor Led Courses (Synchronous)
    • Refunds due to withdrawal from a course will be subject to our refund schedule. To withdraw you must submit a Withdrawal Request. Final course grade will be a ‘W.’ A substitute may be provided in lieu of a refund in some cases– see Substitutions.
  • Self-paced Online Courses (Asynchronous)
    • To withdraw and receive a full refund, you must submit a Withdrawal Request prior to the course start date AND prior to accessing the course materials. Final course grade will be a ‘W.’ No refunds or substitutions will be permitted after the course start date and/or after you access the course materials.

No-Shows

At the time of enrollment, you are purchasing a seat in one or more of our courses. Payment for this seat, or a contract to pay in the form of a Purchase Order, is due upon enrollment. Failure to attend a course constitutes a no-show and will be subject to our policy for Payments and Withdrawals.

Refund Schedule

Learners registered in In-person or Virtual Instructor Led Courses are subject to the refund schedule below. Percent of Refund Due is processed for students who withdraw from a course within the specified number of business days prior to the course start date described in the chart below. Refunds will not be granted for failure to attend the course or withdrawals on or after the start date. See Payments and Withdrawals and No-Shows.

Business Days Prior to Start Date (Percent of Refund Due)

  • 10 or more (100%)
  • 5 - 9 days (50%)
  • 1 - 4 days (25%)
  • 0 days (0%)

Substitutions

If a learner must withdraw from a course for any reason, a substitute will be permitted in lieu of a refund. All substitutions must be for the same course section and can be requested at any time up to one (1) business day prior to the start date of the course. All substitution requests must be submitted via the Substitution Request. Substitutions cannot be guaranteed for classified, restricted, or approval-required courses.

Course Transfers

To transfer to another course section, please withdraw from your current section using a Withdrawal Request and re-register for the new section. If a Learner withdraws from a section a refund will be issued according to our refund schedule – see Payments and Withdrawals and Refund Schedule. A substitute may be provided in most cases where a full refund is not permitted – see Substitutions. If a course is cancelled by GTPE an immediate refund will be issued or the learner can transfer to a future section of the same course – see Course Changes and Cancellations.

Course Changes and Cancellations

GTPE reserves the right to substitute instructors, change course dates and locations, or cancel a course due to insufficient enrollment or unforeseen events. If GTPE cancels a course, participants will be notified via email or phone and will be given the option of a full refund or a transfer to a future section of the same course, if one is available. GTPE is not responsible for nonrefundable plane tickets, hotel and rental car deposits or payments, nor any other expenses incurred.

Course Materials and Content

As an enrolled Learner in a GTPE course, you may be given access to course-related content and materials in support of the learning experience. Some of this content may be electronic in nature and some may be paper/physical. These Terms and Conditions are meant to clarify in general what learners can and can’t do with this content.

Content and materials provided to Learners in a Learning Management System (such as Canvas) are only for the use of the enrolled Learner. Downloads and other types of electronic reproduction of this content by an enrolled Learner are only permitted for the purpose of completing the requirements of the course for which they are enrolled. Any content downloaded or reproduced by a Learner must not be further distributed to anyone anywhere or it will, at a minimum, be considered a copyright violation and legal action may be taken. If downloaded or reproduced materials are distributed and happen to be part of a course that is restricted or export-controlled, the Learner will be subject to prosecution under Federal Export Control and other applicable National Security laws.

No recording or reproduction of course instruction, lecture, or conversation shall be permitted for any reason – whether in-person, live virtual, or streaming online.

Books, notebooks, and other physical materials may be purchased or provided to learners as part of the course in which they enrolled. These materials are only for use by the enrolled Learner for the purpose of completing the requirements of the course and personal future reference. Making physical or electronic reproductions of these materials is prohibited and will, at a minimum, be considered a copyright violation and legal action may be taken. If these materials are distributed by the enrolled Learner to anyone else and happen to be part of a course that is restricted or export-controlled, the Learner will be subject to prosecution under Federal Export Control and other applicable National Security laws.
