Rooted in its vision to provide quality, accessible educational opportunities that align with the changing needs across one's lifetime, Georgia Tech is launching a new intensive credential for today’s modern workforce. Unlike traditional boot camps, the Georgia Tech FlexStack is a modular program designed to provide accelerated, hands-on training and skill building in high-demand fields, all supported by a high-touch team dedicated to learner success.

“Georgia Tech has a long history of innovation,” says Stephen Ruffin, interim executive director and associate dean of academic programs for Georgia Tech Professional Education. “This new credential is just another example of how we adapt to help learners gain new skills in order to meet their career goals."

Comprised of three online certificates bundled together, the program provides the immersive, foundational training needed to launch a new career, shift industries, or prepare for an advanced degree. Designed to provide practical skill building, courses within the program are offered online for convenience but synchronously to allow for live, hands-on instruction. Learners can gain, refresh, or solidify essential skills that will help them excel in their organizations and stand out in an increasingly competitive labor market.

“Our goal was to facilitate a structured learning environment that fosters accelerated skill acquisition,” says Peter Graening, academic director, FlexStack. “We created a very intentional and interactive program format that provides direct access to the subject matter experts, delivered through a rhythm of learning and practicing.”

Taught exclusively by Georgia Tech faculty, the program delivers academic rigor and taps into the Institute’s deep STEM expertise as a top-ranked research university. “As a Georgia Tech alum, I wanted to make sure there was the same level of challenge you might find in our graduate programs – but built for people who want to learn something completely new with expert guidance,” says Graening.

Since each FlexStack can be a unique combination of three online certificates, each comprised of three courses, individuals can customize their learning and align an esteemed Georgia Tech credential to their unique career goals. It can also be done at a flexible pace – one course at a time or rapidly with courses purposefully scheduled so they can be taken back-to-back. Additionally, it is competitively priced, with the full FlexStack costing thousands less than the average boot camp.

The first certificates to launch as part of the program are focused on programming languages like Python and SQL, as well as data science and visualization, and are specifically targeted to meet a growing demand in the market.  In the United States, job postings requesting a skill in data visualization have increased 24% in the last four years. For Python alone, job demand is predicted to grow 25% in the next two years (Lightcast).

During the online training program, in addition to the expert instruction, learners will benefit from a high-touch support team. This includes a dedicated advisor as a central point of contact backed by a full team, all experienced in assisting online programs and dedicated to learner success.

After completing their choice of three certificates and earning the FlexStack credential, graduates will emerge with marketable skills and tangible work products to add to their resumes.

Courses and certificates are now available with start dates as soon as February 2025. Learn more here.
