Course Description

This course provides attendees with a fundamental understanding of how heat stressors impact the workplace since heat is the leading cause of death among all hazardous weather conditions in the United States. Beyond the direct human toll, loss of productivity from heat exposure is also an issue of huge economic significance. The curriculum identifies thermal stressors and how they affect the human body, while also focusing on prevention strategies and when to implement first aid. Specific attention is placed on addressing the challenge of implementing acclimatization and hydration along with demonstrations of heat stress monitoring tools and conduct workplace exposure assessments.
