Radar Cross Section Reduction: Lecture

Course Description

Learn about electromagnetic (EM) scattering and how scattering can be managed to achieve radar cross section reduction (RCSR). This course covers the same lecture material as Radar Cross Section Reduction (DEF 2503P) without the lab component. Featured topics include scattering and RCS fundamentals; scattering control and modification through shaping and use of radar absorbing materials; special considerations for antennas, propulsion systems, and airframes; applications of RCSR principles in aircraft design; and challenges you may encounter in low observable (LO) aircraft manufacturing and maintenance.
