Georgia Tech Named a Premier Authorized Training Partner for the Project Management Institute (PMI)
Having met rigorous requirements for training quality and effectiveness, Georgia Tech is now a Premier Authorized Training Partner (ATP) for the Project Management Institute (PMI).
Founded in 1969 on Georgia Tech’s campus, PMI is the world’s largest professional association for project management certification, skills-building, and networking. As an ATP, Georgia Tech will enhance its already best-in-class Project Management Certificate, providing more relevant resources, connections, and instruction for learners to boost their career trajectory.
"Our ties with PMI date back more than 50 years," said Chris Carter, director of Georgia Tech's Project Management Certificate program. "Georgia Tech’s new status as an Authorized Training Partner allows learners to rest assured that they are receiving high-quality training and instruction that aligns directly with PMI’s global standards."
High-Quality Project Management Instruction
As an ATP, all project management instructors at Georgia Tech must complete the PMI Authorized Training Partner Train the Trainer – PMP Exam Prep® program. This streamlined training program ensures that Georgia Tech instructors will remain current in learning methods and continuously build their own knowledge and skills.
They also must already possess a PMP certification and Agile project experience, ensuring their background in the field. According to PMI, “through their knowledge and experience, they have demonstrated their skill and expertise in preparing students to sit for the PMP® certification exam.”
"Learners can expect to receive relevant training and skills-based applied learning to prepare them directly for the PMI PMP® exam and Agile certification," said Carter.
Maintained continuously by PMI, course content is regularly updated to meet industry standards and needs. As an ATP, Georgia Tech also may offer Professional Development Units (PDUs) to allow already certified individuals to maintain their certification and continue to build their skills.
Project Management Training at Georgia Tech
In January 2021, Georgia Tech revamped its decade-old project management professional program to reflect the current and forecasted needs in the workforce while focusing on flexibility and leadership development.
Professionals looking to enhance their career and project planning skills can enroll in courses such as Strategic Project Management, Technical Project Management, and Leadership Project Management. Additionally, a PMP Exam Prep course can be taken as a complement to the project management certificate or can be taken as a standalone.
"Our new Project Management Professional Certificate is a direct result of emerging trends and transformations in business and technologies," reflected Carter. "As we continue our partnership with PMI as an ATP, we are now better equipped to navigate and facilitate these transformation changes to meet consumer needs and target goals."
