Agentic AI Foundations

Course Description

This course introduces the emerging paradigm of agentic artificial intelligence — AI systems capable of autonomous decision‑making, dynamic collaboration, and adaptive problem solving. Through live demos, guided labs, and a final project, learners design and deploy multi‑agent workflows using enterprise (Azure/AWS) and open‑source tools (e.g., LangChain, CrewAI). Emphasis is placed on reasoning, planning, memory, security, ethics, and human‑centered design for real‑world business and engineering applications

Course Content

1) Agentic AI Foundations

  • Agent vs. agentic systems; single‑ vs. multi‑agent patterns
  • Reasoning, planning, tool use, memory, and feedback loops

2) Architectures and Orchestration

  • Task decomposition, coordinator/executor patterns, blackboard and graph planners
  • LangChain, CrewAI, AutoGen concepts; event busses and observability

3) Enterprise Integration

  • Azure OpenAI/AWS Bedrock; vector/search; RAG‑with‑tools
  • APIs, databases, and workflow systems; auditing and logging

4) Security, Safety, and Governance

  • Identity, secrets, Personally Identifiable Information (PII) handling; guardrails and policy enforcement
  • Risk assessment, red‑teaming, evaluation, and model governance

5) Reliability and Evaluation

  • Metrics for correctness, latency, cost; load and chaos testing
  • Offline/online evaluation; experiment design and A/B testing

6) Use‑Case Patterns and Labs

  • Research assistant, code‑gen pair, workflow bot, and data agent patterns
  • Hands‑on labs building a small multi‑agent workflow

7) Capstone: Design to Deploy

  • Define scope, risks, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs); implement Most Viable Product (MVP)
  • Demo and presentation with peer review
