Building and Deploying High-Consequence Vision Systems

Course Description

This course provides a practical framework for building and deploying computer vision systems in high-consequence environments. Using the 2018 Tempe autonomous vehicle fatality as an anchor case, learners examine how perception errors emerge, propagate through the system stack, and compound based on architecture, deployment, and audit choices. The course covers classification, detection, segmentation, depth estimation, tracking, adaptive inference, and reasoning. Learners develop the knowledge and skills to design, test, and assure vision systems for defense, robotics, transportation, and other mission-critical domains.
