Instructional Techniques for Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental Professionals
This course assists occupational safety and health professionals responsible for the design, development, delivery, evaluation and management of workplace safety and health training programs. Participants must prepare and give a 30-minute presentation on a relevant workplace health and safety topic. While this presentation includes skills and techniques presented during the course, you are encouraged to bring existing material that you are working on for reference.
Conduct a needs analysis as well as perform a task analysis.
Write a goals statement identifying the target audience, observable and measurable objectives and criterion-referenced test items and performance checklists.
Identify ways to evaluate training programs.
Demonstrate instructional strategies, methods and media and link them to learning objectives.
Develop a training lesson plan.
Prepare a five-minute exercise with written instructions.
Explain the difference in learning styles.
Explain how to manage and document a training program.
Prepare for the optional Certified Environmental Trainer exam.
