Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician (OHST) Certification Exam Study Workshop

Course Description

This course is designed to provide qualified Occupational Safety and Health Technicians (OHST) with a review of the skills, knowledge, and techniques necessary for preparing for the OSHT certification exam. You will review the OHST exam requirements, as well as the skills and knowledge addressed in the seven domains of learning covered on the examination. This course also includes a refresher of mathematics concepts and specific topics that directly relate to health and safety such as conversions, dimensional analysis, graphing, geometry, trigonometry, and basic statistics.

Course Content

BCSP EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Review of BCSP qualifications

OHST PRE-ASSESSMENT

  • Complete the BCSP OHST pre-assessment
  • Evaluate strengths and areas for improvement

OHST SEVEN DOMAINS OF LEARNING

  • Discuss each of the exam domains
  • Complete in class activities for each domain

STRATEGIES FOR STUDYING FOR THE EXAM

  • Discuss the importance of studying and taking the practice tests at least six weeks prior to taking the actual exam
  • Develop a study plan

MATH REVIEW

  • Overview of mathematics review course
  • Basic math skills assessment
  • Present math topics and demonstrate how to solve problems
  • Use of the TI-30X IIS Scientific calculator
  • Test taking skills
